Using Borden and Watts' "Computerized Language Analysis System" (Computers and the Humanities, 5 [1971], 129-42), he compares the three cantares of the Cid according to a variety of criteria: distribution of formulas and formulaic expressions, mean word and sentence length, sentence type, frequency of certain function words, and theme. Finds no significant differences among the three parts, a fact arguing against a plurality of authors.
